建立環保冷媒檢測驗證 推動綠能產業發展
標準檢驗局建立冷凍空調產品檢測驗證平台，促進電冰箱與冷氣機技術提升，協助節能減碳政策的推動。
大量使用化石能源，促使地球溫室效應日趨嚴重，造成全球暖化和氣候異常。過去電冰箱與冷氣機所使用的冷媒以氟氯碳化物為主，會破壞臭氧層，使溫室效應更形惡化並加速地球之暖化，故推廣使用不會破壞臭氧層之環保冷媒為當務之急。標準檢驗局建置節約能源產品標準與檢測驗證平台中包括環保冷媒R 600a 電冰箱性能與安規檢測實驗室，將於年底完工進行環保冷媒R 600a 電冰箱之檢測，以保障民眾使用到節能又安全的電冰箱產品。
環保冷媒異丁烷(R 600a ) 的臭氧層破壞能力指數為零，使用R 600a 電冰箱目前在歐洲以及日本都已經非常普遍，中國也積極在推廣。國內電冰箱產品亦逐步使用R 600a 為冷媒，因此，標準檢驗局委託財團法人台灣電子檢驗中心規劃與建置環保冷媒R 600a 電冰箱性能與安規檢測實驗室，同時符合國際標準規範，除了可與國際接軌外，同時為國內民眾使用產品安全把關，更可以協助國內廠商產品升級。
另外，使用環保冷媒也有助於提升冷凍空調產品的能源效率，政府亦將於民國100年開始實施無風管空氣調節機新能源效率基準，並將71 kW級大噸位空調機納入能源效率管制範圍，檢測和驗證平台的建置，對於產業技術提升和環境保護，將是莫大的助益。
